Easy Protein Shake Boost Cubes

Getting healthy items into your protein shakes does not have to be hard or expensive.

I add these booster cubes to our protein shakes every day for some extra nutrition. Yes it looks bad but it smells amazing (I think it makes my house smell like a garden) and you don’t even taste the added ingredients in your shakes!

What you will need:

  • Large Blender
  • 2 Ice cube trays (16 cubes each)
  • 1 Container of Organic Spinach (I buy Earthbound Farm Organic 5oz plastic container)
  • 1 Container of Organic Kale (I buy Earthbound Farm Organic 5oz plastic container)
  • 2 Medium Organic Avocado’s (They don’t have to be ripe)
  • 1 Large English Organic Cucumber
  • ½ cup Ground Flax Seed
  • Water

(You don’t have to use organic if that is not something that concerns you our household just happens to be all organic)

Make sure all of your items are clean.  I don’t worry about drying them because the moisture helps with the blending.

Cut the ends off the cucumber and then divide into sections that will fit in your blender (DO NOT PEEL). Place in blender. Cut the avocados and remove the pits then scoop the contents into blender.  Puree items in blender.

Add spinach, kale, and flax seed, you might have to blend between adding items so that you can have room to add the other ingredients.  Blend till smooth, if your mixture seems too clumpy add just a little water until smooth and pourable.

Pour mixture into ice cube trays and let freeze solid mine normally take about 4-6 hours.  Once cubes are frozen crack them out of the tray place in a Ziploc bag and put back into freezer.

When you are ready to make your protein shake just add one or two cubes to it and blend it all together!

Just so you know I am a very messy person in the kitchen I don’t make things so that they look pretty I am just about function and making things easy!
